Project Description
Cheats Mac and Cheese
Making this no-brainer Mac and Cheese is a 4 beer job. It’s not the same as the traditional method of adding a cheese sauce to cooked pasta but, it is a reasonable dish and much better than the packet mix!
This method will serve you well when you have a heap of people to feed and no time for messing around!
Cheats Mac and Cheese
Making this no-brainer Mac and Cheese is a 4 beer job.
500g (18oz) Pasta Elbows, Macaroni Elbows or Spirals (I prefer the Spirals)
350g (12oz) shredded Colby Cheese
350g (12oz) shredded Tasty Cheese
3 cups Milk
2 cups whipping cream (or Sour cream)
120g (½ cup or 1 Stick) melted Butter
Salt and Pepper
Put the DRY pasta in a greased baking dish, ½ Bain Marie pan or Foil BBQ Baking pan.
Melt the butter, and then pour it over the macaroni
Sprinkle over the Colby and Tasty cheese
Pour on the cream
Add the milk
Season with salt and pepper to taste
You can mix in cooked Bacon and/or Jalapenos/chopped spring (green) onions for added sexiness and flavour. Chopped jerky is also good!
Bake at 190°C (375°F) for 1 hour
Or cook in a BBQ smoker at 120°C (250°F) for approximately 1:45
Give it a stir a couple times during the cook if you have the energy and it doesn’t interfere with the beer drinking!
I also like to sprinkle some Breadcrumbs mixed with Parmesan on top for the final 10 minutes of the cooking
